“Are you Slovene or French?” This is the question that, early on in the novel Un coeur de trop (2006), a French passenger on a Paris–Ljubljana airplane flight asks the woman sitting next to him. Her name is Lila, and she is the soul-searching main character of this at once subtle and lively novel written directly in French by the Slovene author, Brina Svit.
