ABSTRACT

Amidst Islamic-inspired terrorism, political and religious leaders plead for tolerance towards Islam, not revenge. Not all school administrators and teachers celebrating the "appreciate all differences equals tolerance" message are nefarious, radical activists. Presenting sexually explicit material to grade-schoolers predates today's infatuation with tolerance as respect. The Sexuality and Information and Education Council of the United States (SIECUS) has made sex education almost commonplace, even state-mandated, in K-12 classrooms. Legitimizing homosexuality under the guise of tolerance promotion has been remarkably adroit. In recent years, several localities and states have attempted to ban any supportive teaching about homosexuality or prohibiting referring homosexual student to pro-gay groups for counseling. Many of Gay, Lesbian, Straight Educational Network (GLSEN's) activities resemble the tactics of countless racial/ethnic protective organizations. The latest GLSEN quest is to get school celebration of a 'Transgender Day of Remembrances' to acknowledge transgendered people's contribution so as to quell violence against this sexual minority.
