ABSTRACT

Much of the current interest in the politics of social research has been stimulated by events occurring abroad, such as Camelot and the Sanchez affair. Social research is or has been conducted by foreigners in almost every nation in the world. The types of d i f f i - culties confronting the researcher and the extent of the complications involved not only are related to the overall development of the host nation and current political situations but also are symptoms of the basic problems facing social research at home and abroad.
