ABSTRACT

Youth groups and the women's organizations are headquartered at the two national committees and partially supported by them. The existence of the workshops as competitive groups was a constant source of concern to the Republican Women's Federation, but a friendly truce was maintained, and all that the Workshops wanted and want from the national committee was and is reciprocal friendliness. The Young Republican organization follows closely the lines of the senior party. A hearty senior party organization in a state almost without exception encourages thriving Young Republican organization. Young Democratic clubs are chartered by state Democratic committees. The Republican and Democratic National Committees' headquarters have taken different ways to engage the academic world. Since 1958 both national committees have had political scientists as full-time professional staffers under a program sponsored jointly by the committees and the National Center for Education in Politics.
