ABSTRACT

The nature of modern life is such that it must inevitably become more decentralized and expert-driven. Centralized leadership is required to accomplish many complicated activities, and probably for reasons they cite. A simple analogy is in order. The difference between what is envisioned and what is needed is similar to the difference between a symphony orchestra and a jazz band. Most people conceive of society as like the former, whereas it grows closer to the latter. Ecological detective work eventually discovered that undisturbed forests were required because these were the home of the large bodied bees that pollinated the tree. Social roles, and more particularly professionalized roles, constitute an ecosystem. A professionalized model is relatively egalitarian. Professionalized decentralization is also crucial to the preservation of our democratic institutions. In order to sustain democratic decentralization, American children were taught more than reading. In the process, they became politically professionalized in the sense of being self-motivated experts in participatory government.
