ABSTRACT

The Committee on International Relations accepted with enthusiasm the request of our President and of the Steering Committee to present a symposium during World Mental Health Year which we are observing in 1960. As members through GAP of the World Federation for Mental Health, many of you are already familiar with the various World Mental Health Year activities and studies that are being conducted in many parts of the world. We would like to direct the symposium to a discussion of one important specific area of research—that of the role of the psychiatrist in furthering international understanding.
