ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book focuses on home and digs deeper into how religion is at work in the act of making ourselves at home and especially how the memory of believer’s past impacts their lives in urban spaces. It also focuses on urban space, investigating religion in the built environment with special regard to the integration of aesthetics and ethics and the significance of ritual and memory. The book explores how mobility represents an indispensable element of the spirit of believer’s time. It also explores different ethical and theological interpretations to question present norms and look for countervailing powers. The book presents a theological revision of technology through the lens of the belief in salvation and questions the function of technology as an essential tool for progress and redemption.
