ABSTRACT

Asian intellectuals often emphasize geomancy's ecological quality, which can assist human well-being in natural and built environments. The Asian methods of geomancy aim at bringing the movements of the energy of life into harmony with human surroundings. Health increases if energy flows in the right way and vitalizes the body mass. Energy flows through water, wind, and the shapes of the mountains. If energy flows well, the climate for agriculture and settlements is fertile and comfortable. The mode of light and airflows are geomantically dependent on the orientation of the room, mirroring the flow of energy in the landscape. As a sacred force, the earth cares for and coffers the dead as well as the living in the production of spatial design. The actions of the living affect the ancestors, for example, through dishonor that can be thrown unto them. Ancestors also affect the course of life of their descendants.
