ABSTRACT

An examination of the correspondence exchanged between the leaders within each regional central committee, currently being catalogued as part of the central archives of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation and located in Watertown, Mass., makes it possible to follow the threads linking the five deliberate attacks that followed the execution of Talaat. The Revolutionary Committee (Revkom) had given the signal by raising the red flag over an armored train. A detachment of Armenians from Turkey, under the command of General Sebouh, crushed the Alexandropol Soviet and drove out the Armenian Bolsheviks. Now a general in the Republic of Armenia, Arshak Nersessian crushed the first Bolshevik uprising against the Dashnak government. A week after sovietization, he crossed into Georgia and by way of Constantinople joined the national delegation in Paris. He took part in the defense of the Baku commune at the beginning of 1918.
