Perhapsthemostfundamentalquestioninthewholefieldofexperimental psychologyis:Howfarisbehaviourcontrolledbycurrentlyavailablesensory informationandhowfarbyinformationalreadystoredinthecentralnervous system?Consideringtheoriginofneurallystoredinformation.webelievethat thishasonlytwoorigins:(1)ancestraldisasters,changingneuralstructure accordingtotheprinciplesandprocessesofotherphylogeneticchangesoccurring bynaturalselection;(2)previoussensoryexperienceoftheindividual,stored as'memory'.Wemaycallthesetwowaysofgainingstoredinformation phylogeneticandontogeneticlearningrespectively.
