ABSTRACT
One of the sections of Group VII was under the direction of the head of the textile department, and the other of the director of history. The study of the development of the textile industry set the trend of their interests, which were mainly in the invention of mechanical devices and the discovery of processes. The history for this group was a study of the growth of unity among the different colonies, the resultant growing in independence of England, and the social and political development that followed. As class and teacher grew acquainted, many in the group were found deficient in ability to read or write with ease and proficiency. The study of the French and Indian War was then reviewed. The children saw that this war had taught the colonists their own power and had given them military ability and training. Children of age ten thoroughly enjoy playing with numbers.
