ABSTRACT

The democratic will of Iranians has changed the moral map of the Middle East, and the civil rights movement that they have started will have a domino effect that will leave no nation in the region stand where it is. The Green Movement has recentered the world. The Iranian presidential election of June 2009 will go down in history as one of the most magnificent manifestations of a people's indomitable will to achieve enduring democratic institutions. The reality of Iranian polity, as the world has now once again been witness to, is vastly different from the picture that the United States and/or Israeli propaganda machinery is feeding the world. The color green will remain the uncertain solace of this movement—no one will ever know what it exactly means—and that is a good thing. For it always means something contrary, something contrary to what the people in position of power thought it meant.
