ABSTRACT

Unitary thought has a forward impetus. It is oriented from earlier to later stages, and from the past towards the future. In recognizing any form in process of development, unitary man looks forward to what will develop if circumstances permit. Unitary man comes into being through his recognition and acceptance of the world trend. The identification of the contemporary world trend constitutes the recognition by unitary man of his own historical situation. The world trend implies for Britain a steady decline in relative importance, as compared with the great communities of the future, in most matters susceptible of quantitative measurement. Germany is the unstable barometer of the European and world trend. The development of physical systems, the history of the universe and of life, the history of man, and the world trend will remain effective in varying degrees in different countries, but will be subordinate to the unitary skills in all communities which conform to the world trend.
