ABSTRACT
Political values, as wel l as social values, are changing i n N o r t h Ameri - ca. The preceding chapter presented evidence of widespread change i n social norms. This chapter examines systematic intergenerational changes i n political attitudes and behavior. A long-term shift is making the publics of all three N o r t h American societies more likely to act i n autonomous, elite-challenging ways.
