ABSTRACT

N o r t h America is steering a new course. Since the mid-1980s, the United States, Canada, and Mexico have been moving toward continental economic integration, culminating i n the establishment of the N o r t h American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) i n 1994. This book focuses on how changes i n basic values among the publics of the United States, Canada, and Mexico are transforming economic, social, and political life, giving these countries an increasingly compatible cultural perspective. I n the long r u n , these changes have important implications for economic and political cooperation between these countries.
