ABSTRACT

In economics the notion of harmony is expressed by the idea that economic activity can be viewed as the process of housekeeping by a single social subject. This leads to the belief that economic problems can be treated Trom an economic point of view. The scope for discovering the field of economic interests is greatly enlarged if we envisage the possibility of institutional changes. Citizens do not fight wars merely to protect their economic interests, however much they may overrate their importance. Or again, it would be a mistake to think that the struggle for higher wages or even for security and other material advantages is the driving force of the working-class movement. A technology of economics should not be built upon economic interests, but upon social attitudes. Attitude means the emotive disposition of an individual or a group to respond in certain ways to actual or potential situations.
