ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a case study of Mrs. Delaney who is a veteran physical education teacher and has taught at Purdue Elementary for 18 years. Mr. Angelo also teaches physical education at this school, and over the past 6 years twice a week has cotaught double classes with Mrs. Delaney. This year Mr. Angelo is working with Mrs. Delaney to effectively include Bobby Green, a 5th grader with a visual impairment, in their GPE program. Until recently Bobby never received physical education at any grade level because his teachers did not know how to include him effectively. Bobby's good friend Jeff is his trained peer tutor, and they practice their skills together with a bright yellow volleyball trainer ball. Most important, Bobby is now meaningfully being included in GPE with his peers. The next unit will be swimming, and Bobby is excited because he knows that he is a good swimmer and will do well.
