ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a case study of John. He is a 28-month-old male toddler who has a history of severe neglect and has lived in three separate foster home placements since he was removed from his biological parents at age 14 months. John has been in his third placement for the past six months and has been attending a family child care program for the past two months. Crystal, the primary teacher caring for John, says that he is often clumsy, bumps into things, and falls down without accepting help from her or the other teachers. The director and teacher meet regularly with Megan to discuss ways to support John at the family child care program and at home where Megan reports that John is often unresponsive and unable to communicate his needs. The director and Crystal met with Megan to discuss how to support John at the family child care program and at home.
