ABSTRACT

Don Howard, Annette Howard, Kathy McKee and Rob had attended a program offered by a professional association. Kathy had gone back to teaching for a while but rejoined her three friends at Epsilon after taking a leave of absence from her faculty position at the university, and along with Don, Rob and Annette formed a core team. Rob suggested that the executive group work together to develop the performance model by identifying the key performance indicators and establishing objectives—first at the organizational level and then working through subordinates to complete the cascading process. Kathy had studied management history and pointed out examples of instances where a business strategy was formulated and then human resources (HR) strategies were experimented with to see what contributed to attaining the organization's objectives. HR being strategic is when HR strategy was well-aligned with the business strategy.
