ABSTRACT

This chapter reports the statistical research results on energy management in the smaller sized firms. It treats each energy management dimension (EMD) separately. The chapter summarizes the results of the tests of propositions to provide a test of the hypotheses. It also examines the data in an effort to identify patterns of energy management response when all of the energy management dimensions are considered simultaneously. The chapter then reports the results of the tests of the propositions with regard to the smaller sized firms. It then provides the correlation matrix for the four independent variables: size of firm, growth rate, energy intensity, and structure. The energy intensive division and the energy intensive independent firm were in chemical industry. The chapter determines if there are patterns of energy management response which cut across the energy management dimensions. Specifically, the intent is to determine if energy management indices can be developed which discriminate the extent of energy management activities of sample firms.
