ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book aims to evaluate whether identification with the ego character and describes the behavior that leads to anxiety or displeasure can be taken as the cause of forming the symptom character, as appears to be the case with The Lost Boys. It describes the general references to the two poles of personality: an active pole that registers competition, the desirability of power, and dynamics of superiority/inferiority, and a passive pole that registers the desire to restore harmony or oneness with others, the desirability of belonging, and dynamics of inclusion/exclusion. The book argues that there are several schools of double scholarship. It deals with the fantastic or supernatural double that is either a physical duplicate of the protagonist’s body, looking identical to the protagonist, or manifests in one body being controlled by multiple personalities.
