ABSTRACT

Early in the 1980s I went on a research trip to Northern Ontario, following the trail of one Archie Belaney from Hastings in England, who went bush, joined an Ojibway tribe, changed his name to WaSha-Quon-Asin and later achieved fame, plus an invitation to Buckingham Palace, as an author writing under the name Grey Owl. I put most of this into a screenplay that remains one of my more interesting abandoned projects.
