ABSTRACT

Leaders periodically initiate organizational re-design processes in order to introduce a new organizational model or adjust the existing model. The quality of the re-design process itself is an important predictor of the quality of the organizational model that is developed – and of its acceptance and implementation. Three key challenges for design processes are to align the organization with the strategy, create coherent designs, while building trust among key stakeholders. A structured methodology with nine steps exists to ensure that leaders can plan, develop, and implement new organizational designs, while addressing the three challenges effectively.
