ABSTRACT

Following the same pattern as the previous three chapters, this chapter analyses a benchmarking exercise as a written-read document. Here the interpretative methods deployed are designed to achieve the authoritativeness of the analysis by ensuring the authoritativeness of the objective of the analysis, its narrative structure, the evidence set out, the transformations of form used and the interpretation of the resulting composite description. As before, this is accomplished by the designed use of assumptions, an orientation to structures of relevance and a formatted logic of document construction.
