ABSTRACT

Individuals and teams in business, academia, and professional settings are tasked with delivering presentations that are both compelling and persuasive. Most of the time, this involves the use of data to provide evidence. In preparation, many of us create PowerPoint slides and write up talking points. Using PowerPoint slides as a handout for the audience is a telltale sign that there is way too much information on the slides. At the beginning of most presentations, one could notice a hand in the audience. Usually that person will ask if the slides will be provided. Always they prepare to provide slides for their audience at the end of the presentation. One could also provide a handout at the beginning of the presentation to circumvent this question. Presentation software offers many features and options for formatting, designing, and organizing content. Be judicious in selecting which features to add. Some of the special effects add little and may even detract from the message.
