ABSTRACT

This final chapter brings together the main messages from the book to inform an emerging future agenda with regard to mentoring for children in care and leaving care. The crucial importance of relationships in how care is experienced by the young person is highlighted. We discuss the implications for child welfare and social work practice and provide a series of guidelines for practice. Following this, messages for mentoring organisations are summarised to capture the rich learning from the content of this book so far. We end the book by encouraging all involved to seek out new opportunities for how youth mentoring can be maximised to improve overall outcomes and experiences for young people who are in care.
