ABSTRACT

Although uncommon for a biography, the biographer and the biographee turn to the reading audiences in the epilogue of this book. In doing so, they aim to leave a rather bittersweet criminological aftertaste. By philosophically assuming ‘as if’ it is possible to subtract from Constantine’s life (N=1) a story about our global society, this chapter then gives a (playful!) critique of society, delving into the hypocrisy of demonising arms dealers as ‘evil’, and ponders the questions: what does that demonisation tell us about ourselves and our own hypocritical aspirational goals? And to which extent are we not as banally evil as the arms dealers we blame thereof?
