ABSTRACT

As this book will comprise a careful tale of someone’s life, the biographer has tried to stay as close as possible to Constantine’s story during the process of writing about his life. As with any social scientific method, the biographical method has its inherent advantages and disadvantages that influence the biographer, the biographee and the writing process of a biography. This chapter gives a methodological reflection on those challenges by looking at, amongst other aspects, the (lacking) role of biography in criminology, gaining access and maintaining trust and biographical interviewing.
