ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a discussion about how students should use this textbook. It examines some of the critical debates within Islamophobia and uses contemporary examples, from cases such as the Punish a Muslim Day letter sent to British Muslims. The chapter also provides students with some theoretical examples in relation to the roots of Islamophobia and how perpetrators use societal justifications to target those they perceive as being different. It concludes with a discussion about how the UK Government intends to tackle Islamophobic hate crimes.
