ABSTRACT

Just as a character has thought and a moral disposition, so, too, does the story as a whole. A good story therefore reveals a universal truth that is explored through the words and actions of the characters within it and is determined by the outcome of the hero’s pursuit. Another way to look at the completeness of a proper story is that the set-up introduces a thematic question that is then debated implicitly and explicitly through dialogue and behavior, and then ultimately answered by the success or failure of the hero at the resolution.
