ABSTRACT

Nature play can occur indoors as well as outdoors and can be facilitated by adding a variety of natural materials to the classroom. Bringing elements of the outdoors into the classroom can promote an understanding and appreciation of nature while also making learning more interesting. Ideas on how to make the indoors more nature-focused include making animals and plants a part of the classroom environment and introducing pro-nature books to children. A pro-nature book helps children develop accurate understandings and positive attitudes relating to the natural environment. Philosophical discussions with the children can also promote deeper understandings of the natural world and their relationship to it.
