ABSTRACT
Dramatherapy uses ‘de-roling’ exercises such as physically brushing off or
washing off a role, reconnecting with the here and now by noticing actual
details of the room and the people in it, or taking time for individuals to
connect with their real selves by relating some personal details. The process of
discussing the impact of the drama on the individual participants will also serve
the purpose of bringing them back to themselves. For younger children, it is
possible to bring the session to a close by tidying up and putting things away,
or by addressing simple questions to individual children about what they have
just done and by taking the time to say goodbye.
