ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on usage, upsetting content, and controls on their internet use. It considers some differences in response according to the age of the respondents, as the survey collects data from both primary and secondary school children. The chapter also considers those at the centre of the safeguarding scenario – children and young people. It provides some differences in response according to the age of the respondents, as the survey collects data from both primary and secondary school children. The survey is disseminated to school partners by SWGfL, and the schools administer the survey in class so a broad cross-section of respondents is reached. In contrast, pornography is rarely reported in our young people’s survey as a concern for getting upset online. A more hands-on approach to digital parenting means that they are more likely to physically monitor their children’s online and plays a more active role in ensuring safety from harm.
