ABSTRACT

This chapter helps the students to understand the emergency handling procedures in general. It explains how to manage the tour. The real tour operation commences from the arrival of the tourists at the airport for proceeding to the destination. The tour manager can perform a head count and confirm that everyone has arrived. In the meantime, the tour manager should have contacted the ground handling agent/overseas representative to inform them of their arrival. The essential findings of the post-tour evaluation will be passed on to them to make the necessary adjustments for future tours. An efficient tour guiding process contributes to the tourist experience and eventually helps to generate favourable “word of mouth” after the tour. Thus, the tour guide acts as marketer for the destination. While guiding, a tour guide must provide the necessary safety information to avoid risks and take precautions. It is important to provide the relevant information so as to encourage safety and comfort.
