ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the carbon emissions reduction strategies in the aviation sector. It helps the students to understand the sustainable tourism development aspects of tourism development. The chapter also describes the various commonly practised strategies and measures for mitigating the environmental impacts of tourism. Carrying capacity analysis is a basic technique used in tourism to determine the upper limits of development and visitor use, and optimum exploitation of tourism resources. Climate change can be a major challenge for tourism in the future. Increasing temperatures, rising sea levels and unpredictable climatic conditions can harm tourism at any point. Preparing efficient crisis management mechanism is a challenge for the agencies involved in tourism management. Crisis management is all about the prevention of a crisis or the efficient management after the events of a crisis, with the objective of minimizing the impacts and recovering from the situation without delay in order to restore the normal conditions.
