ABSTRACT
This chapter aims to help the students to identify the elements and types of tourism transport and understand the relationship between transport and tourism. Air transportation has been experiencing technological advancements and all helped in managing the air transport industry to become a popular and mass transportation mode. Various modes of transport are interlinked and interconnected. This interrelationship that exists among different transport forms makes transportation more accessible and easier. During the 1970s wide-body jets began to be used for commercial transportation, which marked the beginning of a new era in international tourism. It was during this period that long-haul holidays became popular among tourists. One of the primary features of tourism is that the destinations are away from the markets and the consumers have to travel distances to access the products and consume them. Destinations need to be linked with different tourist markets, as tourists, particularly international tourists, come from different nations located in different parts of the world.
