ABSTRACT

The flight engineer monitor the aircraft’s instruments and calculate figures like ideal take-off and landing speed, power settings, and fuel management. This chapter helps the students to learn the aircraft maintenance activities and understand the organization structure in an airline. While an airline forms its own network of operations, the airline industry makes a larger network and the global airline industry integrates all the smaller networks into a global one – with all the cities and towns with airports connected together. Airlines possess all the service industry characteristics, such as intangibility, inseparability and perishability. The airline consumer includes those people who actually travel as well as those who require the service of transporting cargo from one place to another as per his/her need. Tourists constitute the major market of airlines. Quality of in-flight cabin services and ground handling services is an important aspect of airline products.
