Concluding Remarks book
This chapter summarizes the main findings of the research projects described in the book and reflects on how the ongoing commercialization and ubiquitous presence of popular transmedial worlds might affect our relation to them. The authors’ point out that transmedial worlds are always situated in specific contexts of reception; they are more than providers of temporary refuge, and often sources of social interaction; that they serve to connect us to our past and our own personal history; and serve as a toolkit to talk about the world through a vocabulary of shared references. Today, engagement with transmedial worlds is multiple: it takes place on multiple platforms, at multiple occasions often spanning many years, and it is not restricted to just one world. Transmedial worlds are an integral part of our everyday life.
