ABSTRACT
The local context of the workplace is a key factor in good safety management. A one-size-fits-all system will never work as effectively as something that is properly designed by the organisation, taking into account their needs, objectives and existing approaches. Safety expertise should be about providing a clear process for the business to follow to develop a suitable approach, not about offering a pre-determined way of doing things.
