ABSTRACT
A good leader in safety is ultimately based on who they are, rather than what they do. Attributes of a safety leader are no different to any other type of leader. They must be authentic in what they are trying to achieve; must be transformational rather than transactional; must be learning oriented; must be able to think strategically to put safety in its context; must be humble enough to recognise the need to change themselves and must understand the impact of their messaging on the business.
