ABSTRACT

Safety reports are typically overrun by statistics. In many businesses these form the principal information being provided to executives and boards. But much of this information is based on data of poor quality and is frequently misinterpreted due to a lack of statistical literacy among those managers reading it. Poorly collected, presented and understood data result in bad decisions being made. Organisations must reassess the information they present and increase their capability to interpret so that decisions made can be informed and effective.
