Innovation is hard to do in a vacuum. Often it takes a team, some of whom are directly involved and others who provide resources and political cover. As reader embarks on reader's innovation, take inventory of key decision makers, influencers and culture. The more organizational community and leadership engagement reader develop, the higher the likelihood of overcoming the obstacles that will be on reader's path to innovation. The ability of a company to blend cultures, hold multiple frames of reference within itself, is a key component of taking an excellent healthcare technology idea from inception to realization. The differences in business culture between Japan and the United States is so different that, without study and consideration of the other’s culture, miscommunication and conflict is inevitable. The Japan-based company started in 1944, integrates established technologies into the transformative world of healthcare innovation, and bridges the divide between a large company and small startups –while addressing global cross-cultural business dynamics.
