ABSTRACT

The Johns Hopkins Technology Innovation Center (TIC) partners with Community providers and clinical researchers to improve patient care through medical software. The TIC’s on-site co-creation development process has advantages over traditional external software development when the solutions require intimate clinical domain knowledge, high usability, dynamic clinical workflow, and changes in care providers’ roles. The TIC works with these change leaders to co-create novel Health information technology solutions and help scale those solutions to market. The TIC continues to support the startup teams that come out of Hexcite by providing technical mentorship, assisting with funding through grants support, connecting teams with other startup resources at the institution, and ultimately providing the technology team to build out the software solution. Hexcite is a 16-week adaptive leadership program that partners TIC clinicians with multidisciplinary teams to develop new ideas. The TIC also deployed design resources to interview patients and streamline app workflows.
