ABSTRACT

The 2 × 4 Model clinic follows three fundamental design concepts that guide how the clinicians within the clinic practice and work together to approach and manage the various forms and symptoms of mental illness and substance use disorders. The problem with nonintegrated mental health or addiction care program, is not that they cannot take care of some patients well. Some of their patients can be treated very effectively. The 2 × 4 Model team will be able to flexibly design treatments according to individual treatment needs of different patients with different forms, severities and combinations of dual diagnosis disorders, and it will be all the more experienced and knowledgeable about doing this since it is allowed to have experience with the care of patients from all over the 4-quadrant model map. In war, military units prefer to find themselves in 'target rich environments' so that they have maximal opportunity to strike successful blows against the enemy.
