ABSTRACT

This chapter presents book’s contributions to the current state of knowledge at three different levels. First, the empirical data collected offer a more accurate image of the practices and actors involved in the management of the planned industry. Second, at a meta-theoretical level, the conflict between the ideological orthodoxy and the industrial practices is revealed in detail. Third, the potential of the interpretive approach is argued from the methodological perspective. Especially in a context with less reliable quantitative data, this sort of research approach could provide very useful data and therefore contribute to a better understanding of the system.
