ABSTRACT

As play is the recognized mode of communication for children, effective use of play in groups is a core component when working with children. This chapter provides an overview of facilitating group work with children. Structural issues such as group size and makeup are discussed. Two specific approaches, group play therapy and child-parent relationship therapy (CPRT), are explored in detail. Group specifics are explored along with session outlines and information. Empirical evidence related to outcomes for these approaches is also examined.
