ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of important ethical considerations when working with groups. Ethics are a set of professional values that help form the identity and structure of the group work profession and practice. Gaining knowledge and comfort in the application of the ethical standards provides an excellent foundation on which to build group worker competency. Common ethical dilemmas such as informed consent, confidentiality, and dual relationships are discussed in detail. As an extension of ethical practice, effective models of leadership training are explored.
