ABSTRACT
<<The genealogy of assemblages is briefly introduced within the wider context of the ‘ontological turn’ within the social sciences. The relationship between anthropological analysis of non-western ontologies and related ideas developed within western philosophy is considered. The chapter closes by introducing some of the ways that these new materialist approaches have been applied within archaeology.>>
