Learners who are Young Carers may, at times, need additional emotional support from an adult. Don’t be afraid to check with them that they have someone to talk to in school and to refer them on to the pastoral team if they do not. Just knowing that adults are aware of them and can support them if needed – understanding their situation and being ‘there for them’ – can have a positive impact on the wellbeing of a young person during difficult periods.
