ABSTRACT

The Investors in People (IiP) Standard and Framework is one of the most recognized and longstanding quality standards in the marketplace, having been first developed in the early 1990s. Although changed and modified many times since its inception, its most recent changes have resulted in a greater focus being placed on how high performance is achieved in an organization. Therefore, an assessment against this Standard will explore the people management and development-related activities which an organization engages in and how these are measured to support the business/operation. This chapter considers the way in which organizations can work with IiP, and also looks at some other standards which have developed beside it, namely Investors in Young People (IIYP), and Investors in Volunteering. Differences in their application are considered via the use of some case study evidence.
